Robust monitoring of high sulfide concentrations

Renewable energy is an area of enormous growth, but harvesting these energy sources comes with its own challenges. The methane based fuels coming from biological processes can often contain significant levels of H2S which is extremely corrosive and toxic. Consequently, effective and reliable monitoring and removal of H2S is a key process in modern biogas production, and H2S sensors are required to manage those processes. H2S concentration levels ranging from 3,000 to 15,000 ppm in combination with wet and oxygen-free conditions create harsh conditions which put high demands on the sensors being used. Many existing systems on the market are based on a technology which has short sensor life and a need for frequent re-aeration to regain the original operational performance. In general, they fail to provide constant inline measurements under such conditions, and this leads to poor production optimization and excessive complication levels.
